August update
This is the monthly gardening update for the month of Aug'26. This update is delayed quite a bit.
Among the four lemon saplings, the one at the back is at the most critical stage due to infection by an unknown pest. I have not seen any pest yet, but the leaves at the bottom are thriving, but the leaves at the top are gone. The lemon sapling in the near house row and compound are better than the one from the back. They were also struggling due to butterfly infestations i.e larvae stage. I have killed more than 10 of them. Things are better in the recent past. The lemon sapling in the lemon row has been the only one thriving. It has more leaves than all three combined.
Nutmeg saplings continue to remain the slowest to grow. With few more leaves, both are quite healthy otherwise.
The two Pomegranate saplings are the next slowest. They do have a lot of leaves though.
Avocado saplings are growing taller, but the leaves dries and falls. This is definitely not the case at neighbor Marimuthu's garden.
The guava at the eastermost corner of the compound row got infested by some unidentifed pest that ate a lot of leaves. It has recovered lately.
In Jackfruit saplings, leaves are not exactly looking great. Some are folded due to an unknown infection. The saplings though appear to be growing as new leaves continue to appear.
Except for the above observations none has died and the saplings are alive. Due to regular rains, i have stopped the daily watering routine in the morning.
