pipeline

Pipelines form the backbone of any irrigation system, whether Drip Irrigation or flood irrigation. Pipelines move the water from the water source typically Openwell in our case or borwell for others to the fields, where crops like Casuarina and Coconut are planted.

Pipeline includes components like mainline, submain, water outlets, valves etc.

As of 2024-03-24, mainline is being extented to Openwell situated at 17-2. A solar pump is getting installed here to supply water to the 17-2 land.

When the Thenkodipakkam farm was setup in early 2023, pipeline was dug by Sri lankan tamil team led by Prasanth. They charged around ₹360 per length of pipeline. They were introduced to me by Ananthakumar mama. Based on his experience he suggested to avoid JCB.

Since i had already planted Casuarina crop in 2022 Nov, i went with this manual trench digging to avoid destroying Casuarina crop. However, in 2024, i did use JCB to dig a new submain line at 15-1 for Coconut without much issues. The main point is the timing of work. IN dry season, it is easy to JCB. In wet conditions manual option is best.
