  Omandur subramani called and informed about good rain yesterday. Probably ploughing can be done in 2 days

• Ploughing commences today

  Jayaraman called and informed, he’ll commence ploughing today at 9am. Not much rain yesterday, not even stagnant water in kalar. Still good enough for ploughing. Will do 1 turn saal first fully, then next turn. Informed mohan and omandur subramani.

• Aadhirai having Headache

  Aadhirai is having headache since morning. She also had it yesterday. She had a good nights sleep. However she couldn’t study since 7am. She woke up at 5am and did her daily routine. She took one NTSE sat social paper.

• 6 workers and mohan working

  7 workers came to work for thorn collection and removal, one got sick and gone back. Mohan is with them.

  Mohan got hurt when he fell down while burning the thorn near open well at 17-2a. He got an injection as it caused a wound in hip area.

• Jayaraman continues ploughing

  Jayaraman has been called to continue ploughing. Mohan expressed satisfaction at yesterday’s work. Whether to continue 2nd turn or plough 21-2, will be decided by mohan and jayaraman.

  Mohan informed that Workers left @2pm. Need to give money tomorrow. Thorn removal completed at 21-2 today. Still pending at 17-2. Have asked him to plan after jcb work

  Today while speaking to mohan about registration completion, he gave adverse feedback on the quality of ploughing. He mentioned that kozhu is not good, depth is not sufficient due to lack of power in tractor.

  Enquired after Mohan about his hip injury. He has a monkey plaster on his right back hip. Tablets and injection have not helped a lot.

  3rd turn 5 Tyne ploughing completed today. 17-2a, 23-1b, southern portion of 21-2 looks lumpy.

  Balaraman is suggesting a rotavator after 4th turn followed by cultivator, disc for varappu and finally another rotavator.

  Mohan did 4 turns 5 Tyne, cultivator, rotavator for his land.

  First two turns were completed for the entire land except 15 on 23rd night around 9pm. Have paid only diesel money.

• Siva nursery

  Went to Siva nursery at katrpampakkam. Clonal varieties cost 1.8 and 2.3 for speed. He gets saplings from outside.

  He has a plant suitable for live fence, name unknown costing ₹10. It grows by simple cutting.

  4th turn with rigid 5 Tyne plough completed by 12:30pm. Based on discussion with balaraman, it was decided to run cultivator today itself.

• 1st turn cultivator completed

  1st turn cultivator started around 6pm. Requested Balaraman to form bunds with disc plough tomorrow. Balaraman suggested 2nd turn tomorrow morning so soil gets broken further immediately followed by disc.

• Root removal from fields

  Mohan accompanied driver and found that a lot of roots have come up causing cultivator to get stuck frequently. Tomorrow he’ll get 5 ladies to remove such roots from entire field.

  Today met Dr Vaithilingam at Romvijay biotech. He suggested silica based powder application of tripaze on the saplings. So bought 30kg@₹3600 and hand by mohan on 36000 saplings in 500trays each with 72.

  He also suggested further application at every six months.

• Planting of casuarina

  Planting of casuarina has been completed by Thiruvamoor jaganathan for 8.5 acres @3300. Remaining 3 will be done tomorrow morning. He was introduced by kodipakkam prem and aruvapakkam nursery kannan.

  The work suffered largely due to thorns in the field and slightly by rain. There were 17 ladies, driver and supervisor.

  We engaged prem to assist for food etc, kumaran and maala for transporting 125 trays. Mohan spent entire day here since 5am

  Fencing work commenced with Mohan working with Guna and Ezhumalai, who earlier helped in moving the pipes.

  Completed 200m at EOD. Delay was due to stick cutting.

• Rainfall status

  Yesterday night there was mild rainfall and 17-2 planting is safe as of now. Heavy flood in the stream usually overflows on 17-2.

  Since bunds were not formed due to rain and my decision, water from heavy rains will go waste.

• Casuarina Final payment

  Spoke to Aruvapakkam nursery Kannan and confirmed that final payment is ₹59,750. He will send a sapling owner’s gpay ID later, so I send above amount to him.

  He did not pay anything extra as transport to Jagannathan. They were OK and happy about the way they were treated here.

• Kannan on fence work

  Kannan also suggested 2 person can easily finish 300m in one day. He even suggests 2 can do this.

  He’ll also pay a visit and give his feedback to Mohan on the work. Nylon wire must run at the bottom continuously to prevent goats.

  Spoke to prasanth about laying pipeline in January. He suggested doing it early, as soil will be easy to work.

  Mama also mentioned about contract casuarina planting by parties from mandagapet who will form manual bunds suitable for flood irrigation at around ₹4*** per acre along with planting. I’m curious as to why omandur Subramani did not mention about this mandagapet parties.

  Spoke to mohan and understood that water flows in midland survey no 15 at knee level. He has no idea about the status of 17. I asked him not to venture that side for safety reason.

  Sporadic stagnant Water in the eastern lands. Wherever the barren soil is there, water is stagnant there. Not much of concern otherwise.

  Heavy rain both yesterday and early morning today. On pause since morning. Mohan can see clouds in the north indicating rain. Weather predicted to rain tonight, tomorrow and end by Monday. To resume around 19th.

  Visited the farm during rain this morning. Found water flowing to the brim in the omandur odai and knee deep water in kovadi odai.

  Found 17 not yet submerged. Next heavy rain may flood. Found water overflowing in 15 from omandur odai. Cleaning up the odai of all trees and obstacles is an important task for next year.

  Discussed with mohan on rice cultivation.

  In Eastern land, the northern diaganol bordering tailor land is navadai kalar and it looks so different with all the water.

  Today somu completed 2nd sedai for all three land parcels. Third one was done 3 saal, others 2 saal.

  Parambu ottuthal completed only for 1.5 land parcels. Seems like the bull feels frightened by the uneven soil and quicksand like behavior.

  Tomorrow kalasam kattuthal or plucking of saplings from nursery will take place. Six are expected and will start at 6am

  Today Mohan mixed algae with zinc sulphate and sand applied in the three land parcels. Apparently I should be more careful about his ability to understand.

  During transplantation, he’ll apply urea+complex. Next application of urea+potash after 15 days. Then no more nutrients.

• Blackgram Fertilizer recommendations

  Ramesh from murugan & co fertilizer shop recommended all 19 liquid fertilizer from coramandal ₹150 per pack(usual price₹180) to spray at the rate of 50g/ml per tank. In total we need 4.5kg. 8 tank per acre 30 DAS.

  Since irrigation is must for above dose, he suggested reduced dose of 30 ml per tank and to be applied during dew time.

  We should include 1/2 bottle per acre to the above fertilizer.

  Ramesh also suggested alternative to furidon Cipel or ferret or fury nacl. 1kg per acre₹800 per pack

• Paddy Transplantation

  Paddy Transplantation plucking completed today with 5 people working from 7:30 to 4:30pm at 7*₹600 salary with bf, lunch etc

  Workers had a tough time plucking saplings from areas where water drainage was not done properly.

  Parambu by Anbalagan could not be completed as the bulls refused to walk due to their fear of quicksand. Some

  1245mudichu I.e 60*20 from IR39 and 260 from sowbaghya variety. 800 mudichu per acre is needed.

  Paddy transplantation completed. Instead of agreed 25, workers demanded payment for 27. Spent 500 for transport and 1000 for food. Workers started at 10am and finished by 1:30pm

  Settu helped mohan to distribute paddy sepling kalasam across the main field and spread nutrients 2bag complex faramfos 20:20:0:13 and 1bag urea and 6 packs of furidon. He retained 15kg for chilli.

  Bought crackers to ward off naraai and kokku. Naarai seems to be very brave and doesn’t fear human sounds.

  Follow the instructions below to activate

  Step 1 If WiFi calling is not enabled or does not show then type ( * # * # 869 434 # * # *) in dialer You will see vowifi carrier check disabled, this means your phone supports it, if you don’t see this, older Redmi phones such as Redmi 4 etc don’t have Vo-Wifi

  Step 2 Switch off WiFi and ensure data is connected Open a random webpage This is so that your phone is imprinted on the network

  Step 3 Go into airplane Turn on WiFi It should work now

  If it doesn’t work, then go to the dialer and type ( * # * # 4636 # * # *) in the dialer Here go to phone information, scroll down and there you will see what is enabled and what isn’t The switch for ‘Mobile Phone Power’ or something something power as it may differ phone to phone. It should be the first switch

  Turn it On. Go back and back and now WiFi Calling will work.

  NOTE This switch is notorious for turning off by itself. So if WiFi calling doesn’t work by default, check in the phone services

  In my case I have to do Step 2, 3 & enable mobile power every time I want Vo-Wifi. It’s ok, it’s worthwhile to be on WiFi Calling.

  Shortly, Alum will Melt and Start Foaming. Finally It will form into a Crumbly Mixture.

• Heavy rain on 2023-05-03 night

  Seems like there was very heavy rain on 2023-05-03 night. Today Omandur Subramani and Kovadi Mohan called and informed about the heavy rains. Uncle informed that heavy rain started at 10pm itself. The previous night it drizzled for the entire night. Mohan confirmed that the Omandur canal is running to the brim and the openwell has risen dramatically. Seems like we can survive this summer.
