Coolant line thermostat failure in ikon

When driving to Sastra from Pondicherry within few minutes noticed that air-conditioner was not working. On checking all the controls in dashboard found the engine temperature needle edging near the Hot(H) end instead of the usual 25% above Cold(C).

When i raised the speed to even 60kmph, it started hitting H red mark. When i reduced the speed to 30kmph, it came down slightly to 90% mark. So i started driving slowly and exited from the Villupuram-Nagapattinam highway and went towards Thavalakuppam.

I went to the first car workshop shop i could see and it was in periyakattupalayam. Manohar, the mechanic immediately suspected the cause to be thermostat failure, as that area was exceptionally hot. He removed it, serviced it and put it back. He suggested replacing it, but in the end just serviced based on advise from his owner. During the test drive, temperature issue was not there.

I continued and finished the trip to Sastra and returned back with speed hitting up to 100kmph. There is however large water coming out from the bottom. Still unsure if this is the due to air conditioner or the thermostat is still leaking. Need to follow up.

Later in the night, Aniruth took his cousins to Periyapalayam as i was quite tired.
